LSAW Pipeline production process and advantages
LSAW is an important type of steel pipe, characterised by its distinctive longitudinal welds. Its appearance is produced in a refined and efficient process, which mainly includes steel plate pretreatment, forming, pre-welding, submerged arc welding, expanding and straightening, as well as inspection and packaging.
Firstly, high quality steel plates are selected, precisely cut, thoroughly cleaned and levelled to ensure that the raw material is of high quality and flat. Subsequently, the steel plate is fed into the forming machine, where it undergoes a number of precision presses or bends, and is gradually shaped into tubes, commonly by means of JCOE or UOE, to ensure that the billet is accurately moulded.
After forming, pre-welding is carried out at the seam of the billet to stabilise the position of the weld and lay a solid foundation for subsequent welding. The core welding process adopts double-sided or single-sided submerged arc welding technology, which is not only highly efficient, but also has excellent weld quality, aesthetics and durability.
In order to further enhance the performance of the steel pipe, some of the products need to be enlarged to enhance the strength and dimensional accuracy, and to eliminate bending and twisting through straightening to ensure the straightness of the steel pipe.
After production, all steel pipes undergo strict inspection, including non-destructive testing and hydraulic testing, to ensure that the quality is up to standard. Qualified products will be sprayed with labels, painted and other surface treatments, and finally carefully packaged and stored for application.
The advantages of LSAW pipe are significant: high strength and pressure resistance, thanks to advanced welding technology, so that the steel properties can be optimised; good corrosion resistance, to extend the service life, to adapt to a variety of harsh environments; high production efficiency to meet the needs of large-scale production, and adjustable size, flexibility; relatively low cost, thanks to efficient processes and high utilization of materials, which is conducive to controlling the cost of the project. Therefore, in construction, bridges, tunnels, electric power, petroleum and other fields, LSAW pipes have shown a wide range of applications, becoming an indispensable and important material.
