What is ASTM A53 Grade B pipe type?

ASTM A53 Grade B pipe is a standard specification for seamless and welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe.  This specification covers seamless and welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe in NPS 1/8 to NPS 26 [DN 6 to DN 650], with nominal wall thickness.

The ASTM A53 Grade B pipe Type E refers to an electric-resistance-welded, non-heat treated pipe.  This type of pipe is suitable for welding, flanging, and threading.  It is commonly used in pressure piping applications and structural applications.

ASTM A53 Grade B pipe refers to a type of carbon steel pipe that conforms to the ASTM A53 specification. It can be seamless or welded, with Grade B specifying a particular level of tensile and yield strength. ASTM A53 Grade B pipe is intended for mechanical and pressure applications, including transporting gas, water, and oil. These pipes are available in both black and hot-dipped galvanized finishes.

The "type" of ASTM A53 Grade B pipe often refers to whether it is seamless or welded, as well as specific manufacturing methods such as Type E (electric-resistance-welded) or Type S (seamless).
