What is the pressure rating for 316 stainless steel pipe?

The pressure rating for 316 stainless steel pipe depends on factors such as pipe size, wall thickness (schedule), temperature, and applicable standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME B36.19, ASTM A312).

For example, a 2-inch 316 stainless steel pipe with a Schedule 40 wall thickness has a pressure rating of approximately 2,000 psi (138 bar) at 100°F (38°C). As temperature increases, the pressure rating decreases due to material strength reduction.

Higher schedules (such as Schedule 80 or Schedule 160) have thicker walls and can withstand significantly higher pressures, whereas lower schedules (such as Schedule 5S or 10S) have lower pressure ratings.

For precise pressure ratings, refer to ASME B31.3 or consult the manufacturer based on your specific application, temperature, and 316 stainless steel pipe dimensions. Let me know if you need detailed ratings for a specific size and schedule.
